As a Proposal Manager, Kendra supports investigators and teams to become more competitive in securing external funding, providing strategic assistance throughout all stages of proposal development and project management. She has twenty years of experience in research development and administration, and specializes in the development and management of large, complex proposals, supporting strategic research planning of early-career faculty, and creating faculty development programs. Kendra has supported proposal development to a wide variety of federal and private funders, including NSF, NIH, DOE, DOD, NASA, NOAA, USDA, NEH, and NEA. She has a particular interest in creating and implementing research development programs to enhance institutional research capacity and grant competitiveness and readiness.

Kendra received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Lewis and Clark College and a master’s degree in Environmental, Population and Organismic Biology from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Before joining UC San Diego in 2023, she directed research development activities in the Office of Grants and Strategic Initiatives at Willamette University, the Office of Research of Faculty Development at the University of Idaho, and most recently in the College of Science’s Research Development Unit at Oregon State University.
